Coach outreach
Emailing college coaches
Coaches open emails that are short and specific: who you are, your grad year, what you do, your best numbers, a clickable video link, and one real reason you want that program. Your first email isn't a biography.
When to email
- You can email coaches at any grade. Under NCAA rules, D1 coaches generally can't send personalized replies until August 1 before junior year (see the timeline), but they still read emails and watch video.
- D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO coaches often respond sooner.
Sample coach email
Keep the body under about 150 words. Link your video (YouTube or Hudl). Never attach it.
