The Transfer Portal
How the transfer portal works in volleyball and why it matters to recruits. Rules checked Oct 25, 2026. Rules change, so confirm details on the linked sources and with each school's compliance office. This is general guidance, not legal or eligibility advice.
2026-27 D1 volleyball windows
- Women's volleyball: Dec. 6, 2026 - Jan. 4, 2027, plus the fall-sports spring window May 1-15, 2027.
- Men's volleyball: May 9 - June 7, 2027, plus the spring-sports fall window Dec. 1-15, 2026.
- Women's beach volleyball: May 9 - June 7, 2027.
- The Oct. 7, 2026 Cabinet introduced new windows in several sports; check the NCAA notice before you plan around these dates.
What it means for high school recruits
- The women's window opens after the Nov. 11 signing date, so some D1 staffs hold spots for transfers.
- Keep communicating with coaches through the winter and spring, and keep D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO options alive.
- Ask coaches: "How many high school players do you expect to sign in my class, and how many transfers?"
