Recruiting profile
Social media for basketball recruits
Coaches will look you up. Make what they find quick to read, honest and clean.
Quick dos
- Use X as your main recruiting account. Many college programs and coaches are active there.
- Pin your best, most recent highlight video, and keep a full-game link handy (YouTube or Hudl).
- Post your club and high school schedule with team name and jersey number before every event.
- List only real, verifiable information: height, position, stats from varsity or club play, GPA.
- Follow the programs on your target list and their coaches.
Quick don'ts
- No drama, trash talk, complaining about referees or teammates, or profanity. Coaches also see what you like and repost.
- No inflated heights, stats or "offers" that aren't real.
- Don't tag 30 schools on one post.

You can post, tag and DM coaches anytime. Under NCAA D1 rules, men's basketball coaches can't send you DMs or other electronic messages until June 15 after sophomore year, and women's basketball coaches until June 1 after sophomore year (confirm with each school). Before you sign, coaches can follow you and "like" or repost public posts, but they can't comment publicly about you. See the timeline.
